Four Staff of Rakai School Held for Molesting Pupils

“Statements have been taken from various kids so as to aid in our investigations; however, one of the boys who reported this culprit is going through some medical tests, which are also going to be used as evidence in our investigations too,’’ Kasirye disclosed.

Police in Rakai have arrested a teacher and three other staff at Jawuhara Islamic Primary Educational Centre for allegedly molesting and sodomizing learners.

Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka Police Spokesperson, said on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, that four people from the school, including the suspected teacher identified as Yasin Kato, have been arrested and are currently being detained at Lwanda Police Station.

Kasirye added that the arrests were successful due to the confession of a victim at the school who told his mom about what was happening to him at school.

“Statements have been taken from various kids so as to aid in our investigations; however, one of the boys who reported this culprit is going through some medical tests, which are also going to be used as evidence in our investigations too,’’ Kasirye disclosed.

Kasirye further called upon school administrators to always report their staff to police that engage in such sexual abuse acts instead of keeping them around in their schools because such people are a danger to the young kids both inside and outside the school environment.

According to the pupils in the school, the suspect has been molesting and sodomizing various boys in their dormitories every night.

A mother of one of the victims, whose names have been withheld, revealed that her son told her on June 18, 2024, that he wanted to shift to another school because he was tired of the sexual abuse that this paedophile had forcefully subjected to him and the other young boys.
