The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has launched a tree planting campaign where party supporters are to plant over 10,000 trees as they celebrate Robert Kyagulanyi’s day also known as Bobi Wine solidarity day, which is celebrated every first Sunday of the month.
The campaign was launched on Monday, October 26th, 2026, at the party headquarters at Makerere Kavule by the NUP party Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya who called upon NUP supporters countrywide to plant trees this November 1st , 2026.
“Today we launched a tree planting campaign with 10,000 trees donated by comrades from Ddundu, Kyampisi in Mukono district. This is ahead of the Bobi Wine solidarity day taking place on 1st, November, 2026. We encourage all our people to take part in these activities and join in the efforts to save the environment,” Rubongoya said.

NUP staunch supporter and musician Mansoor Ssemanda also known as King Saha said that this is an opportunity for party supporters to do something worth remembering for the party.
“Lets plant trees in our compounds so that the people in future will know that you were part of the few who contributed to build a new Uganda, as you plant these trees please take a photo and share on your different social media platforms,” Ssemanda said.
As NUP plans to celebrate Bobi Wine’s day, there are fresh memories of last month’s arrests where many NUP supporters were arrested as they tried to celebrate in different ways. Some were arrested at church as they planned to have prayers and others at Kitebi playgrounds as they planned to have a friendly match between foot soldiers and party leaders.
Bobi Wine solidarity day was launched at the beginning of September 2026 and is scheduled to happen every month countrywide.
