Court Charges Former URC Managing Director with Forgery

Former Managing Director of Uganda Railways Corporation at Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court

The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has charged Stanley Sendegeya, the former Managing Director of Uganda Railways Corporation, with forgery and uttering false documents.

According to Natasha Mariam the State House Anti-Corruption Unit spokesperson, Stanley was arraigned in court following an operation by the unit and the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Uganda Police (CID) on November 22, 2023.

“Sendegeya is accused of forging and presenting documents proving that he had the requisite academic qualifications for the position of managing director, which he did not,” Mariam said.

According to the prosecution led by Judith Nyamwiiza, in July 2023, Sendegeya, a resident of Namugongo, Wakiso district, forged a curriculum vitae with intent to deceive, perpetuating that he held a master’s degree in business administration, which was not the case.

“During the same month, he offered false information to a recruitment firm at Lumumba Avenue named Delloit Uganda Ltd,” Nyamwiiza said.

He was remanded to Luzira Prison until November 27, 2023; however, he applied for bail through his lawyers, citing his ill health and advanced age.
