Uganda Prisons Stakes UGX10M Bounty on Fugitive Warder Over Kiboga Killings

Wanted Warder Moses Anguyo

The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a UGX 10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Moses Anguyo, a prison warder accused of killing four people in Kiboga District.

According to prisons authorities, Anguyo, warder number 13544, allegedly carried out the fatal shooting on February 23, 2026, while on duty at Kiboga Government Prison. The victims included senior prison officials and civilians linked to the facility.

Those killed were Hope Catherine, an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons and Deputy Officer in Charge, Akishuri Bright, the facility’s third-in-command, Ayebare Sarah and a child.

Speaking on Monday, March 9, 2026, Frank Baine Mayanja said security agencies have intensified a joint manhunt for the fugitive suspect.

“We are offering a reward of UGX 10 million to anyone who provides reliable information that will lead to the arrest of the fugitive,” Baine said.

He emphasized that public cooperation is critical in tracking down the suspect and restoring safety in the affected communities. Authorities also assured the public that any information shared will be handled with strict confidentiality.

Security officials have warned that Anguyo could be armed and dangerous, urging members of the public not to attempt to approach or confront him if spotted.

Instead, anyone with information about his whereabouts is advised to immediately contact security agencies through the toll-free lines 999 or 0800144144, or report to the nearest police station.

Search operations by security forces remain ongoing as authorities work to locate the suspect and bring him back into custody while safeguarding communities around Kiboga and neighboring districts.
