Police Stakes Shs10 Million Bounty on Wanted Kyambogo University Lecturer

The police have announced a cash reward of shillings ten million for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the wanted Kyambogo University lecturer, Dr. Lawrence Eron.

Dr. Eron, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation at Kyambogo University, is connected with allegations of aggravated defilement of a 16-year-old visually impaired girl.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said Dr. Eron, 56, varnished shortly after being released on police bond.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Eron allegedly defiled the girl upon returning from a trip to Kenya, where he was the caretaker of four students, including the victim.

Police said the suspect had traveled to Nairobi with the girl for a conference and returned on 10.12.2023.

According to the police, Eron first dropped two Gulu University students at Namayiba Taxi Park, later dropped the third lady, and remained with the victim, who had a visual impairment.

The victim can only see during the day while wearing glasses, but cannot see at night.

Eron then drove together with the victim from around midnight up to Namugongo Nsawo village, but along the way, the victim requested water, which was bought at a supermarket along Ndagire Road in Nalya.

The victim fell unconscious after taking the water, and upon gaining consciousness, she felt pain around her private parts, only to realize that she had been sexually assaulted in the car.

The following morning, her maternal uncle drove her back to her school in Mukono, and she revealed her ordeal to the senior woman teacher, who alerted the school head teacher, and the matter was reported to Mukono police.

The DNA samples that were recovered from the suspect’s car, a Toyota Wish with registration number UBA 349Z, matched the samples found on the body of the victim.
