Police K9 Tracks Down Key Suspect in Ntungamo Murder Case

The K9 tracked a scent from the crime scene for about one kilometer, eventually leading officers to the residence of Mercy, the deceased’s daughter-in-law.

Police in Ntungamo District have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Naekeree Kedress, a resident of Butare Ward, Kauhanga Sub-County.

Naekeree, whose lifeless body was discovered hanging outside her home, was allegedly murdered by two men who broke into her house.

Luckily, a key testimony by her grandson, (names withheld) led authorities to make the arrests.

In his narration, he told the police that two men entered the home, abducted Naekeree, and hanged her in front of the house.

Police later brought in a sniffer dog, Yudah, to assist in the investigation. The K9 tracked a scent from the crime scene for about one kilometer, eventually leading officers to the residence of Mercy, the deceased’s daughter-in-law.

Mercy was taken into custody and is currently being held at Ntungamo Police Station.

A statement released by @PoliceUg on June 13, 2025, confirmed the arrest.

“Mercy has sofar revealed other three accomplices, two of whom are in police custody and the other on the run,” Police said on X.

The case remains under active investigation, with police preparing to press charges against those in custody while pursuing the remaining suspect.
