Police Arrests 4 Motor Vehicle Thieves in Kampala Metropolitan

Recovered vehicles by police during an operation in Kampala

Uganda Police has arrested motor vehicle thieves and registered a success in an operation conducted around Kampala Metropolitan areas.

The police revealed that they arrested one suspect by the name of Juma Kisule, who admitted to being part of the gang that steals and sells motor vehicle parts.

According to SCP Hadijah Namutebi, the Chief Political Commissar of Police, the suspect then led the police to his accomplices, who were later arrested. These include Kavuma Godfrey, Sekindu Henry Kakuru, and Mulinda Sepriano.

“Upon interrogation, Kavuma and Senkindu admitted to the offense and revealed the places and people the stolen motor vehicles were sold to. They also led the police to Nakasongola and Masaka District, where several motor vehicles were recovered from people who had bought them,” Namutebi said.

SCP Namutebi said the recovered vehicles from the operation are: UAR 054S ipsum; UAN 397U ipsum; UBA 306F Noah; UAP 295T Noah; UAS 293V Sienta; UAH 131L Corona; UAV 360B Premio; UAP 898U Ipsum; and UAQ

“All the above vehicles were stolen by the gang and sold out to unsuspecting customers, and more recoveries and arrests are ongoing,” SCP Namutebi said.

According to Namutebi, the suspects will appear in court on charges of stealing motor vehicles.

The operation being conducted by the Flying Squad Unit of the police commenced on October 26, 2023.
