In the first episode of TEARS AS HUSBAND ABANDONS WIFE TO BATTLE TRIAL OVER FAKE MARRIAGE, I shared with you how my husband abandoned me after our wedding. In this second episode, I bring you a continuation of my quagmire.

Last week, I appeared in court while accompanied by my sister and our lawyer. How on earth can a man be cruel? I expected Robert to appear in court and at least explain how things happened. To my surprise, Harriet (former wife) came alone in the company of my two sisters-in-law. I felt betrayed by that family and asked myself how I could get into such a mess.

The magistrate called the court to order, and Harriet was called to the stand. I could not believe my ears. “How sharper than a serpent’s tooth is the ingredient of a woman?” She called me all sorts of names. A woman I did not even know existed. She talked as if she knew me so well. Maybe Robert had told her lies to acquit himself.

Stealing someone’s husband? A man who came to my home and even made vows in the church! I said to myself, “Hasa Mukama ongumye,” which means, “Please God, give me the strength.” She said that her husband was back with her and wanted the court to nullify my marriage with Robert.

I was called to testify, and I narrated my whole story to the court: how I was lied to, how I gave this man the years of my youth only to find out that he was already married. I told the court that I had no intentions of keeping such a man in my life and that all I needed was a fair judgment for my family.

The magistrate advised that the two parties sit together and reach an agreement. The presiding magistrate also directed that my husband, Robert, must appear in court at the next hearing. He adjourned court and gave us a date to return. I now await what will be decided by the court after my husband appears.
