Police have impounded the official vehicle of Kira Municipality mayor, Julius Mutebi Nsubuga, after it was found transporting salt, soap, and sugar to be distributed to voters in Hoima district.

The vehicle registration number LG00 12039 was intercepted at Kigorogya Trading Centre in Bombo Sub County, and the occupants, mainly NUP agents, were also arrested.

Jackson Bogere, the Hoima District Police Commander, confirmed the incident and said the car is packed at Kitoba Central Police Station.

“NUP agents were arrested in Bombo Sub County driving LGOO 12039, giving out appointment letters, money, salt, sugar, and soap to the locals,” said Bogere.

The Hoima LCV seat fell vacant following the death of Kadiei Kirungi in March 2023.
