Busoga North Police Arrests Eight Suspected Motorcycle Robbers

The territorial Police in Buyende district, Busogo North has arrested eight suspects linked to motorcycle robberies in the district.

During the weekly security brief at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala on Monday, October 2, 2023, SCP Fred Enanga, the Spokesperson of Police revealed that, the operation was carried out in two places targeting criminal gangs involved in the robbery of Boda-Boda motorcycles.

Enanga said that, a total of seven suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered and an assortment of dismantled spare parts as well. One of the operations was in Irundu Trading Center where police went to the home of David Nfachi.

“We recovered five motorcycles, these included a Met-Registration Number UDD 154C, TVS-Registration Number UDG 819W, then three other motorcycles, a Tembo, Bajaj Boxer and TVS, whose number plates have been removed. And an assortment of exhibits motorcycle frames and also about five number plates which we recovered,” Enanga said.

He said that, five suspects were arrested from Irundu Trading Center and identified them as, Kenneth Lubega, Yousuf Katimbo, Isma Dorio, Solomon Nfaaki and David Nfaaki.

Enanga said that they expanded the operation on intelligence up to Kitimbo’s garage in Buyende, where they recovered two more suspected stolen motorcycles and also arrested additional three suspects.

“We expanded the operation on intelligence up to Kitimbo’s garage in Buyende, where we recovered two more suspected stolen motorcycles at a Registration Number UDT 387T and UET 381 that were recovered. We also arrested three additional suspects, that is Kitimbo James, the garage owner, Kiberu Fred Boda-Boda rider who does the wrecking and identifies new motorcycles,” he added.

Therefore, the criminal racket’s arrest serves as another example of police determination to combat and dismantle the criminal forces responsible for Boda-Boda attacks, robberies and murders.

In October 2023, a total of 124 suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered and 17 suspects arrested in Kampala Metropolitan area.
