Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President Jimmy Akena is tonight set to unveil a countrywide digital fundraising campaign aimed at supporting party candidates who are struggling with limited financial resources as the 2026 general elections draw closer.
According to a statement issued by the party’s Head of Media and Communications, Faizo Muzeyi, the initiative branded “UPC Special Live Fundraising Events” will go live at 8:00 p.m. on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and X. The campaign is being organized in partnership with the Jimmy Akena Foundation under the theme “its Never Too Late to Do the Right Thing.”
Muzeyi noted that several UPC candidates are already deep in campaign activities but lack adequate funding to effectively mobilize communities and deliver the party message. The digital fundraiser is expected to bridge this gap by rallying party members, supporters, and well-wishers to contribute whatever they can.
Akena urged the public to stand with UPC candidates during this critical campaign stretch.
“It is never too late to do the right thing, and the right thing now is to support our candidates in any way we can,” he said.
To ease contributions, UPC announced official mobile money channels managed by the Jimmy Akena Foundation. Supporters can donate through MTN Momo Code 723036 or Airtel Money Code 4397653.
Alongside the fundraising launch, Akena will commence on-ground mobilization for UPC flag bearers. His first stop is scheduled for November 30 in Kaberamaido District, as the party steps up its activities ahead of the 2026 polls.
