The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has called upon African Parliamentarians and National Assemblies to work together in order to advance the continent.

Speaker Among said this during the bilateral meetings she held with the Speaker of the Ghana Parliament, Albany S.K. Bagbin, on December 2, 2024, at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, ahead of the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers (CSPOC 2024).

She noted that recognizing the shared challenges and opportunities that bind African nations in unison will advance the continent.

“It is therefore imperative for parliamentarians across the continent to work hand in hand to develop the continent,” Among said.

Speaker Bagbin stated that international collaboration among MPs around the world should be founded on mutual respect for the various belief systems of different people.

“Collaboration among Parliamentarians should be based on mutual respect for the different people and not blackmail and intimidation, which is worryingly becoming the global trend,” Bagbin said.
