President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised boda boda riders in Busoga for their role in maint0aining peace, supporting the NRM, and helping to spread awareness about government initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.
Museveni’s message was delivered by the Special Presidential Assistant on Press and Mobilisation, Alhaji Faruk Kirunda, during a meeting with boda boda leaders from the sub-region in Nakasero on June 10th, 2026.
“Thank you for supporting the NRM and promoting our programs in your area,” Museveni said.
The President also applauded the riders for operating under organized leadership and encouraged them to continue mobilizing communities to embrace government poverty alleviation programs.
Speaking at the meeting, Kirunda reassured the riders that all presidential pledges made to them would be fulfilled.
“Currently, the focus is on the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) preparations and increment of salaries of Arts teachers, but after that, H.E the President will be fulfilling the pledges he made to you,” Kirunda noted.
He also urged them to mobilize residents to participate in the upcoming LC I elections and clarified that no funds had yet been released to boda boda and mechanics’ SACCOs in Busoga.
“When that money comes, we shall inform you. Whatever is being said that some money was allocated to your SACCOs is a total lie,” Kirunda said.
Maj Emma Kuteesa commended the riders for maintaining genuine SACCOs and advised them to save as they await government funding.
“What you should be doing now is saving in these SACCOs as you wait for funding from the government. But I would like to advise you that when this money comes, utilize it well so that it serves the right purpose by benefiting all the members,” Maj Kuteesa said.
Busoga Parliamentary Caucus Chairperson, Stephen Kisa, pledged continued support for government programs and mindset change initiatives in the region, while boda boda leader Eria Simon Musobya thanked President Museveni for his continued support to the fraternity.
“H.E the President proved that he is indeed on our side when he came and attended our rally in Busoga on 25th January 2025. We thank His Excellency for his immense support to us. We are really grateful,” he said.
