Police in Mityana are investigating the circumstances under which a man was lynched to death after he attacked his ex-wife on February 6, 2025, in Bukola village, Manyi Sub County, in Mityana district.

According to preliminary reports, the deceased, Bisenge Ndyomugabo, had been banished from Bukola village due to his history of domestic violence against his ex-wife Ngabire.

However, he returned to the village, attacked her while she was digging in a garden, and brutally hacked her with a machete.

Upon hearing Ngabire’s screams for help, the villagers rushed to her rescue, cornered Bisenge, and lynched him to death.

John Bisaso, a local from the same village, revealed that the couple had separated due to Bisenge’s prolonged abuse and violent actions towards his wife, which at times left her fighting for her life in hospital.

The deceased, who had relocated to Kiboga, shocked residents who learned about his unexpected return only to commit murder that very day.

SP Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain

Ngabire survived the attack and was rushed to the hospital for better medical assistance, while Bisenge succumbed to his injuries and died on his way to Manyi Health Centre IV.

’’I am grateful to the locals for saving Ngabire; however, they should have desisted from taking matters into their hands because it is wrong and against the law to omit mob justice,’’ Kawala said.

This case sheds light on the broader issue of domestic violence and the need for proactive measures to address it in society.
