The MK movement, a renowned force known for its support for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, has launched its civil and pressure group known as the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

The launch that took place at the MK Movement headquarters at Plot 7, Saddler Road, Naguru, on Wednesday, July 7, 2024, left many questioning if it’s a new political party.

The launch, attended by a number of politicians across the country, including prominent Members of Parliament and ministers like Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Hon. Margret Muhanga, Hon. Ojara Mapenduzi, and many others, was chaired by Captain Mike Mukula, who was the chief guest.

Hon. Michael Katungi, who was representing the Central Organizing Committee of the MK Movement, stated that the group’s main objective is to ensure the protection of political and social contributions and capital rights of all Ugandans and guarantee their fundamental access to necessities.

“The mission of PLU is to build a technology-based economy, and we pledge to responsibly utilize government resources and have accountable governance with a future where every Ugandan is served irrespective of region or social status.” Katungi said.

Captain Mike Mukula, who was the chief guest, advised the youths that every generation has a duty, stating that success without succession is no revolution, saying that President Museveni is not a politician but rather a revolutionary leader, and to be a revolutionary leader, one has to be a patriot.

“Someone who goes out and campaigns against his country should ask himself what kind of leader he is. You can have a quarrel with your government, but never have a quarrel with your country because we shall all leave Uganda here. Be patriotic like this new league,” Mukula said.

The MK Movement was first exposed by Gen. David Sejusa in 2013, who stated that President Museveni was grooming his son to succeed him when he retired, which was refuted by the president as false for so many years. However, after gaining support from the communities, General Muhoozi, who is still an active army officer, came out and expressed his interest in the presidency.
