Nyege Nyege Festival Brings Rhym to Immerse Revelers in Vibe at Majestic Nile

The 2024 9th edition is running under the theme Afrogalactic Carnival, blending music with ancestral traditions, and will take place at a brand new site on 12 acres at the Source of the Nile, Njeru. The new venue is intended to provide festivalgoers with a more convenient experience, eliminating the need to walk long distances between stages.

The 9th edition of the Nyege Nyege festival has kicked off on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with organizers at their best to electrify revelers and make their memories with incredible performances, unique art, and a positive vibe. This year’s edition will run up to Sunday, November 18, 2024.

While speaking to our reporter, Aly Allibhai, the Nyege Nyege CEO and Executive Producer, said that the 9th edition will be a different experience with its convince being located around the city.

“The gates opened earlier today at 4:00 PM; it is a beautiful day. The seven stages are all ready, like the Reggae stage, the cultural stage, the Hakuna Kulala stage, the Uganda Waragi stage, and many more with different vibes and different experiences, till Sunday morning,” Allibhai said.

Security has also been hiked to ensure a secure environment  for the revelers at Uganda’s Nile and the surrounding areas.

The Nyege Nyege lovers are parting with UGX 200.000 East Africans, $185 (approximately UGX 700.000) Non East Africans (early bird), UGX 150. 000 East Africans, and $125 (approximately UGX 475.000) Non East Africans, and UGX 250.000 East Africans and $ 200 (approximately UGX 760.000) Non East Africans for the pre-sale tickets.

Nyege Nyege is a festival in Uganda that promotes outsider music, primarily electronic by African artists. It was founded in 2013 by Arlen Dilsizian and Derek Debru. Its name refers to a Swahili word describing “a sudden, uncontrollable urge to dance.” It started as a small gathering of music enthusiasts. It has since grown into Africa’s largest music and art festival, attracting visitors from over 30 countries.
