The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has launched the party leadership school, which is intended to mentor and train leaders. The launch occurred on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Kamwokya, Kampala.

While speaking at the former party headquarters in Kamwokya, which has now been transformed into a leadership school, the party Secretary General, Lewis Rubongoya, said that the Leadership Academy targets young people from the informal sector, professionals, and NUP leaders holding various leadership positions, and that the trainings are intended to mentor leaders in different spheres of life.

“Our leadership trainings will be broad, and our students will be trained in leadership classes, communication skills, conflict management, and human rights, among others,” Rubongoya said.

The NUP Party President, Robert Kyagulanyi, called upon the NUP leaders at different levels to find time and be part of the trainings as the party intends to create a new breed of leaders who are not only politically conscious but also morally upright.

“We are hoping that the leaders from this school will be leaders to resist corruption, self-entitlement, and abuse of office,” Kyagulanyi said.

The leadership school was officially launched by Kyagulanyi, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP)-Joel Ssenyonyi, Rubongoya, various NUP MPs, mayors, LC5 chairpersons, and NUP councilors from different divisions and districts.

The premises, which belong to Kyagulanyi, were offered as a leadership training school after NUP moved to its new offices in Makerere Kavule late last year.
