Museveni Trashes Claim of Undermining Kadaga Using other Busoga leaders

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has denounced the claim that he is using other cadres of the ruling National Resistance Movement Party to fight the 1st Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga.

Museveni was addressing a public rally at Kamuli Youth Centre grounds in Kamuli district to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model on Friday, January 24th, 2025.

His statement stemmed from the petition of youth leaders presented by Nororo Asuman Waiswa, the Kamuli district youths chairperson, where they asked the President to explain why some legislators had been claiming that President Museveni had fallen out with Kadaga.

President Museveni described such a claim as an insult to him and explained that when he has an issue with any of his cadres, he usually tells them in private or in meetings.

“Now people who are saying that I’m sending people to undermine my sister Kadaga are liars. That’s the insult to me. If there is any issue with any of my cadres, I tell them privately or in meetings. I don’t have any issues with Sister Kadaga,” the president explained.

According to Asuman Waiswa, who presented the claim to the president, some legislators from the Busoga sub region who had turned against Kadaga had been claiming that they were being backed and fully supported by the president.

Asuman’s group further asked the President to ring-fence the two top positions in the ruling NRM party leadership, including the 1st and 2nd National Vice Chairperson, currently held by Al Hajji Moses Kigongo and Kadaga, respectively. In his brief response, the President will have to consult the issue with the top decision-making organs of the party.

This is the first time President Museveni is publicly commenting on the current political tension in the Busoga sub region ever since the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, expressed interest in contesting against Kadaga for the position of the 2nd National NRM party vice chairperson.

President Museveni concluded his three-day wealth creation and PDM assessment tour of Busoga with strict guidance to local area leaders to mobilize local residents to engage in meaningful agriculture using the four-acre model strategy.

He maintained that whereas the government is committed to continue sending more money to local people through PDM, the mindset should be changed or guided to adopt his wealth creation messages.

The PDM assessment tour will now head to the Lango sub region beginning next week, according to Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua.

About the position of the 1st and the 2nd National NRM Vice Chairperson, he will present it to CEC and call a national conference and present it to them.
