Minister Kadaga Assures Nyege Nyege Festival Revelers of Safety

There will be water rafting at Itanda Falls on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and also Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has assured the Nyege Nyege festival revelers of Uganda’s safety and the full security offered by the security agencies.

She said this while officially opening the 9th edition of the Nyege Nyege festival at the Jinja Golf Club on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

She thanked everyone for coming to support Jinja city through this annual event that has promoted Uganda’s tourism industry. Kadaga emphasized to revelers the security agencies’ commitment to ensuring that all attendees are safe.

“I want to assure you that Uganda is safe. I want to thank talent Africa, Ali Allibhai, for choosing Uganda. On the African continent, there are 54 countries, but you chose Uganda. Thank you for choosing Uganda year after year, and I am glad Nyege Nyege is growing bigger and bigger. I fight for you. I want to assure you that there is enough accommodation. Enjoy yourselves, have a good time, and after here I want to invite you on behalf of the President of Uganda to visit other sites in Uganda so that you know more and more about Uganda,” Kadaga said.

Kadaga, who arrived at the event at around 6:00 PM, was welcomed by the minister for tourism in Busoga Kingdom, Princess Hellen Namutamba, the event organizer, Ali Allibhai, and security agencies, among other people.

Allibhai, the CEO of Talent Africa, thanked the security agencies for ensuring the safety of the attendees for all these editions.

“We thank security for keeping us safe for all these years. We appreciate you all. Thank you very much for coming through,” he said.

Princess Namutamba, thanked the revelers for attending the Nyege Nyege festival in large numbers.

“Thank you everyone for coming in big numbers. We are very happy for Mama to have come to support us yet again during another edition. We have many gifts coming from Uganda Breweries, which we shall be representing to you at a later stage,” she said.

“We want to thank the Nyege Nyege owners and organizers for choosing Jinja city for this event. You can also go and visit the king of Busoga at the palace. Thank you for visiting Jinja. Thank you for vibing. Thank you for eating your money,” Princess Namutamba added.

She added that there will be water rafting at Itanda Falls on Sunday, November 17, 2024, and urged the revelers to go and enjoy it.

Nyege Nyege is a festival in Uganda that promotes outsider music, primarily electronic by African artists, and happens yearly. It started as a small gathering of music enthusiasts and has since grown into Africa’s largest music and art festival, attracting visitors from over 30 countries.
