Residents in Ggangu and Masajja villages in the Makindye Ssabagabo sub-county are gripped with fear over the rising number of unidentified bodies found in the area.

One of the locals in Ggangu village, Martin Kivivi, revealed the desperate need for police intervention to track down the criminals behind the vice.

According to Kivivi, the frequent killings in their area are caused by a lack of police patrols and the idleness of many young people, who spend their days playing pool, gambling, and using drugs.

’’We need police to do their job and carry out thorough police patrol sweeps in the affected areas because the wrongdoers are many in these Ggangu and Masajja,’’ Kivivi said.

This was after two bodies of unidentified boda boda riders were discovered by the locals in Masajja village, Makindye Ssabagabo sub-county, on 11-12 December 2024 consecutively.

The defense secretary of Ggangu village, Godfrey Wampamba, on December 12, 2024, revealed that there was a new vice that poses a threat to the two villages.

He further mentioned that every week, two or three dead bodies are abandoned in these villages, which is very concerning.

’’These cases are becoming common because there is too much use of illicit drugs and negligence from police.’’ Wampamba said.

He disclosed that some known criminals frequently commit crimes in these areas but are never arrested by police, which shows that there is a likelihood that these very same people are the ones behind these killings too.

One of the locals in Ggangu village identified as Martin Kivivi revealed that they are worried about this bad vice in their area and called upon police and other security bodies to intervene in this matter.

Kivivi added that these killings are rampant in their area because police patrols are few, and also many youth are idle during the day doing nothing but playing pool, betting, and using drugs.

’’We need police to do its job and carry out thorough police patrol sweeps in the affected areas because the wrongdoers are many in these Ggangu and Masajja that need to be arrested because some of them are hardcore criminals that cannot be touched as per se,’’ Kivivi emphasized.

From 2024 highlight reports, several tragic incidents involving dead bodies and suspicious circumstances in the Gangu area of Makindye Ssabagabo have been discovered there.

On November 29, 2024, a 12-year-old girl was reported missing for four days before being found dead in a swamp near her home in Ggangu C village, Makindye Ssabagabo, in the Wakiso district. She was kidnapped by a man who masqueraded as a friend to her father, took her away, and started asking for ransom money that the parents could not afford.

These incidents reflect ongoing challenges related to crime and safety in the Makindye Ssabagabo area, raising urgent questions about community security and environmental management.
