The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has appealed to Charles Peter Mayinga, the Premiere of Buganda Kingdom, and the clan leaders to amicably stop unnecessary exchanges over Kabaka’s health-related issues and instead focus on uniting Baganda.
According to John Kikonyogo, the party spokesperson, none of the duos will win and benefit from the squabbles that have recently taken place in the media. He added that their continued fights damage the good reputation of the Baganda tribe, who are globally known for peace and respect.
Kikonyogo made the remarks while addressing the members of the press at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday, July 27, 2024.
“Kabaka is the most important inner thing that brings all of us together. So we appeal to the Katikiro and the clan leaders (Bataka) of Buganda Kingdom and the people of Buganda and Uganda to cut on rhetoric because none of you is going to win in these exchanges,” Kikonyogo said.
He added that the duo will look like uncultured people if they don’t stop spreading malice concerning His Majesty the Kabaka. However, they ought instead to commend God for the Kabaka’s health.
“We were taught when we were still young that it is better to always talk less.We should solve our gravancies internally to protect our dignity both locally and internationally,” Kikonyogo said.
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, who has been receiving special treatment in Namibia since April 14, 2024, at the Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Centre as recommended by his German doctors, returned to his kingdom in the early morning hours of Monday, July 22, 2024.
Katikiro Mayiga later confirmed the news on his X handle, stating, “The King has returned peacefully to his country. We thank God for keeping him and bringing him back home. We thank the doctors and the ministers who accompanied the King.”
Kabaka has returned to his kingdom amidst preparations for his coronation anniversary, which is marked on July 31st annually.
