The newly appointed Chinese Military Attaché to Uganda, Colonel Zhang Hao, has paid a courtesy visit to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces, at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe with the aim of strengthening military ties between Uganda and China.
In a statement released by Col. Deo Akiki, the deputy director of public information at UPDF, the two leaders held discussions at the Special Forces Command (SFC) offices in Entebbe, where they both emphasized the historic relations that exist between their nations.
“They recognized the importance of their longstanding friendship and the collaborative efforts that have flourished over the years,” the statement read in part.
Colonel Zhang expressed his commitment to enhancing military cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two leaders pledged to work together to foster a deeper partnership, which is expected to benefit both countries strategically.
The appointment of a Defence Attaché is seen as a significant step in strengthening and upgrading the strategic relationship between Uganda and China.
This development comes shortly after General Kainerugaba’s meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda and a delegation from China North Industries Group Corporation Limited (NORINCO), one of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies.
