The Uganda Red Cross Society, a vital organization dedicated to saving lives, is currently conducting a three-day blood donation drive at Kagadi Secondary School. The campaign aims to collect 350 units of blood, a critical resource for patients in need.
The drive, which commenced on Friday, November 8, 2024, will run until November 10, 2024.
In a post by the Director Communications and Public Relations of Uganda Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Irene Nakasiita, on her official X handle, said that blood is an indispensable component of human life and the society is currently conducting a three-day blood donation drive at Kagadi Secondary School.
“Blood remains one of the essential lifesaving fluids for our bodies to keep in function; the heart can’t beat without blood,’’ she said.
She added that since the Uganda Red Cross is a lifesaving organization, they work closely with different institutions and organizations to mobilize voluntary blood donors all around the country.
“By partnering with institutions like Kagadi Secondary School, the organization is able to mobilize young people and encourage them to become voluntary blood donors,’’ Nakasiita noted.

She also called upon everyone to consider donating blood, as a single donation can save multiple lives.
However, she noted that it is necessary to ensure that the donors are well enough to donate blood and that they are not at risk of any infectious diseases that may harm the recipient of their blood.
By giving blood, one is making a significant contribution to their community and helping to ensure that those in need receive the life-saving treatments they require.
