Donald Francis Wagoli a staff surveyor at the Ministry of Lands zonal office in Jinja has been arrested by the Inspectorate of Government over allegations of bribery following an undercover operation.
The suspect, was picked up during a surprise compliance and anti-corruption sweep conducted by the Inspector General of Government’s enforcement team at the office.
Investigators reportedly intercepted cash during the operation, which Wagoli was unable to immediately explain. Sources familiar with the exercise said part of the recovered money, estimated at Shs300,000, had been introduced through an IGG-coordinated informer as part of a controlled operation.
In a related development, a graduate trainee, Jovan Woniala, was also detained after he was allegedly found in possession of the bag in which the money was placed.
The two are currently being held at Jinja Central Police Station as inquiries continue.
While the Inspectorate of Government has not issued a formal statement, sources said the operation is part of intensified surveillance and enforcement measures targeting alleged corruption within land administration systems, which have repeatedly come under scrutiny.
Investigations are still ongoing.
