IGG Arrests Senior OPM Officials over Abuse of Office

The Inspector General of Government, Betty Kamya has on Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2023, arrested seven senior officials from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) over abuse of office and embezzlement of funds which led to loss of over Shs 4 billion taxpayers’ money.

The arrested suspects are identified as Geoffrey Sseremba, the Undersecretary/Accounting Officer, Deogratious Masigazi, the Undersecretary/Head of Department Pacification and Development Programme, and Joshua Abaho, the Senior Assistant Secretary OPM.

Other arrested suspects include; Barbra Asasira, the Principal Assistant Commissioner Programmes, Emmy Tonny Ameny, the Assistant Commissioner-Programmes, Peter Amodoi, the Programmme Officer OPM, and Samuel Ofungi, the Senior Assistant Secretary OPM.

The suspects arrived at Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo, Kampala on Wednesday afternoon to answer to charges of abuse of office and embezzlement of money.
