FDC UNVEILS FLAGBEARER FOR OYAM NORTH BY- ELECTION

The Forum for Democratic Change party, has unveiled Okello Newton Freddy as the party flag bearer for the Oyam North by- election, a seat that fell vacant after the death of Col. Charles Engola who was shot by his bodyguard at his home in Kyanja.

The revelation was made by the party Deputy Secretary General, Kaija Harold during an FDC media briefing that was held at Najjanakumbi on Monday, May 29, 2023.

“AS you may all be aware that the Electoral Commission released the road map for the by-election of Oyam North County after the death of the incumbent. We are pleased to announce that Okello Newton Freddy has been chosen as the candidate,” Kaija said.

Kiaja described Okello as a dedicated member of FDC who has under gone rigorous scrutiny and preparation for public leadership, as it is the party’s norm.

“We believe he possesses the qualities and values necessary to serve the people of Oyam North County effectively,” Kaija noted.

He further said that they are fully aware of NRM and its extensive State machinery, which may attempt to intimidate and suppress FDC supporters. He however emphasized that Oyam has always been the strong hold of FDC.

“We have a long history of support from the people of Oyam and we are confident that they will continue to place their trust in us. We call upon the people of Oyam and our supporters to stand with us in the by-election. We are here to regain their support and reinforce our dedication to their welfare. We will work tirelessly to address their concerns, champion their interests and bring about positive change in their lives,” Kaija said.

Kaija called upon all their supporters to stand and demonstrate their unwavering commitment to democracy, good governance and equality by voting for Okello and supporting FDC.
