The RDC Secretariat Commissioner for Central Buganda, Hon Nakato Kyabangi, has called upon residents of the Buganda region to vote for leaders capable of constructively engaging with the ruling government to advocate for the region’s development needs in the upcoming 2026 General Elections.
Kyabangi, who was addressing residents in Gayaza Cell, Kimaanya-Kabonera Division, Masaka City, on 29th August 2025, criticized the ineffectiveness of the current opposition leaders in Buganda region.
The RDC argued that despite drawing substantial salaries from the very government they oppose, these leaders have turned their backs on the people.
“The current crop of opposition leaders in Buganda are too naïve to reach out to the President or government officials to solve the problems affecting their areas,” RDC Kyabangi stated.

“Every government has its development programs we should benefit from, and when a president leaves power doesn’t go with them, ”Hon Kyabangi emphasized.
She gave a good example of Hon Betty Aol Ochan, former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, who alongside other leaders from Northern Uganda regardless of political affiliation worked with the President to address regional development gaps.
Commissioner Kyabangi in her submission directly appealed to voters to elect flexible leaders who willing to put political ambitions aside and focus on Buganda’s socio-economic development.
She commended the founders of Ayinza Byonna Gayaza Group for embracing the president’s call to start SACCOs in order to save and create weslth for their families.
The RDC encouraged them embrace the Parish Development Model Program, and tasked RDCs to make sure residents access the funds.
Najjuuko Annet, the group treasurer said they started in 2019 with eight members and an annual saving of UGX43000, but has since grown to 50 members in last six years with a total yearly saving of over UGX53 million. Thus, she gave a kind contribution of UGX1 million and promised to lobby extra support from government to address their presented challenges.
She gave these remarks during during a ceremony, Ayinza Byonna Gayaza Group at Gayaza Kimaanya-Kabonera Division, Masaka City celebrated their 6th Anniversary and end of 2024/25 Saving year.
Other guests at the ceremony included Teopist Mbabazi and Faizo Sseruwagi, the Deputy RDCs Kimaanya-Kabonera Division and Ssembabule District respectively, Ssegawa Katumba and Jafari Ssesanga Assistant RCCs in Masaka City, DPC Kimaanya-Kabonera Division, Vincent Bukenya, NRM Division Chairperson – Kimaanya-Kabonera among others.
