
The Office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) has led the arrest of Chris Ariko Obore, the Director Communications and Public Affairs at the Parliament of Uganda and seven other senior staff over Corruption-related cases.
Preliminary information indicates that the arrests were conducted on July 2nd, 2026.
Other arrested officials include Methods Murebe, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Parliamentary Cooperative Savings and Credit Society Ltd (SACCO); Daniel Adilo, the Director Human Resource; Leonard Okema, the Executive Secretary in the Office of the Speaker; Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, the Principal Research Officer; Emmanuel Emuron Okwi, the Principal Protocol Officer; Stella Itute, the Personal Assistant; and Vincent Otebata, the Capacity Development Officer.
At the time of reporting, no official statement had been issued by the Uganda Police and IGG. However, the case could be related to the corruption scandals that hve been transpiring in Uganda’s Parliament that led to the former Speaker, Annet Anita Among’s property search and impounding of her cars by police.
