BUIKWE: Accident Claims Four on New Jinja-Mukono Highway

An accident along the new Jinja-Mukono route in Kikakanya Ngogwe sub-county, Buikwe region, has claimed the lives of four yet-to-be identified individuals and left four others in a critical condition.

Preliminary information indicates that the deceased were traveling in a Hilux double cabin, registration number UBF 313N, when the driver lost control, went off the road, and hit a road mount. Four people died on the spot, and others were left severely injured.

The local authorities said that the tragic accident happened on April 29, 2024, in the afternoon along the new Jinja-Mukono highway.

According to the LC I Chairman, Fred Muwambo of Buwogole village, the vehicle had eight occupants who were traveling from Tororo heading to Kampala when the accident happened.

’’The driver of the vehicle lost control, went off the road, hit a road hill, and overturned, killing four people on the spot and leaving others in critical condition,’’ Muwambo revealed.

At the time of reporting, Muwambo added that they were waiting for police to remove the dead bodies while the survivors were rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

The police in Ngogwe confirmed the accident and said that investigations are going to start so as to find out what really caused the accident.
