UPDF Repatriates former LRA Rebels

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have repatriated the second batch of the former Lord’s Resistances Army (LRA) rebels and their family members back to Uganda from the Central African Republic.

About 16 repatriated rebels plus wives and children arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Monday, August 14, 2023.

The families were received by the minister of state for defence in charge of veteran affairs, Oleru Huda Abason, together with the chief of the Defence Force, Gen. Wilson Mbadi.

The spokesperson of the UPDF, Col. Deo Akiki, told Nexus Media that another batch is yet to arrive in the country on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

This is the second group  of former LRA fighters to be repatriated by the UPDF within the recent weeks.
