UPC Urges City Dwellers to Uphold Hygiene for Habitable Living

The UPC head of communications, Faizo Muzeyi

The opposition Uganda People’s Congress Party has urged city dwellers to maintain proper sanitation around households in order to prevent diseases during the rainy season.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, while speaking at the press conference held at the party headquarters in Kampala, the UPC head of communications, Faizo Muzeyi, said most of the pit latrines in the city were being washed away during the heavy rains.

He adds that some city tenants take advantage of that and throw in all sorts of refuse, which causes blockages.

“These situations are a recipe for both cholera, malaria, and typhoid, which spread like a bush fire,” said Muzeyi.

He urged the public to get involved in keeping our cities habitable and maintain high-class hygiene at household levels is very instrumental.

Muzeyi noted that as the roads get more damaged, potholes are enlarged, and they fill up with water, this demands more resources for repairs.

“As UPC, we are sending early signals and warning bells not only for Kampala city but to the rest of the country to do urgent city planning and implementation,” said Muzeyi.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) should urgently pay attention and quickly study water flows during rains to find solutions to controlling the flooding.
