Teargas, Heavy Security Mar Kyagulanyi’s Wakiso Campaign

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu campaigned in Bweyogerere, Kiira Municipality in Wakiso district amidst heavy deployment and teargas.

Kyagulanyi who started his journey from his home in Magere was welcomed by teargas in Kiira town until Bweyogerere where he hosted his first rally.

While addressing his supporters in Bweyogerere on Monday December, 1st, 2025, Kyagulanyi condemned the police actions and encouraged his supporters to remain steadfast amidst all police violence.

“Thanks for withstanding the teargas, the beatings, the intimidation, we shall win and Uganda will be a country for all Ugandans as long as you don’t give up,” Kyagulanyi said.

He discouraged supporters from responding to police actions with violence, warning that retaliating could endanger their lives.

“Please even when they attack us with teargas please don’t be tempted to hurl stones at them and give them an excuse to execute you with live bullets,” Kyagulanyi added.

Kyagulanyi also defended ordinary soldiers and police officers, arguing that responsibility for excessive force rests with their commanders. He reminded security personnel that their mandate is to protect citizens, not endanger them.

“Your Uniform has a Uganda flag which means you have an obligation to keep Ugandans safe and you are our brothers and sisters and officers of the law meant to keep order and not to break the law,” he noted.

Kyagulanyi who is meant to campaign in Kiira Municipality and Kyadondo East today will campaign in Luwero on Tuesday and then after proceed to Amolatar, Dokolo, Omoro, Oyam, Nwoya, Amuru before campaigning in Adjumani, and Gulu city.
