The Rwenzori Theluji Festival is a key event on Uganda’s tourism calendar, which is set to take place from September 5-8, 2024, at Rwenzori Square in Kasese municipality with the aim of enhancing trade and investment opportunities in the region.
This year’s festival will feature a Tourism, Trade, and Investment Forum, with an emphasis on Uganda’s commitment to sustainable tourism and cultural heritage.
Benson Baritazare, the Chairperson of the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum, said that
the Rwenzori Theluji Festival, celebrated every first weekend of September, serves as a precursor to World Tourism Month in Uganda, with the main celebrations for World Tourism Day also planned for Kasese District.
“The festival will showcase initiatives from Uganda Investment, which will present its One-Stop Center’s investment and support services, designed to stimulate growth within the tourism sector,” Baritazare said.

He noted that the festival’s importance is not just an event but it is a commitment, a celebration of Uganda’s cultural heritage, environment, and shared diversity.
“It reflects our dedication to creating a sustainable tourism destination,” Baritazare added.
Baritazare further stated that attendees should look forward to a vibrant array of activities, including cultural performances, exhibitions, and discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment opportunities in the region.
“The Rwenzori Theluji Festival seeks to position Kasese as a premier tourism destination while fostering community engagement and economic development,” he noted.
The festival aims to attract both local and international tourists, showcasing the rich cultural traditions and natural beauty of Kasese. With support from key stakeholders such as Uganda Wildlife and the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
