Police on Jinja Road are investigating a suspected case of mob justice that claimed the lives of two men at the Old Port Bell Road in the Industrial area in Kampala.
This incident happened on January 14, 2025, at an unknown hour on Old Port Bell Road in the industrial area.
Police reports indicated that the bodies of two unidentified males were found lifeless, lying in a pool of blood opposite the Total fuel station.
Speaking to Nexus Media, SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said that a team of homicide detectives visited the scene, documented the area, and transported the bodies to City Mortuary, Mulago, for further examination.
SSP Onyango added that the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify the victims.
’’We as police call upon anyone with a missing person for the past days to go to the Mulago city mortuary and identify if any of them is their relative,’’ Onyango said.
He condemned mob justice as counterproductive and detrimental to societal order and further urged citizens to report suspicious activities instead of resorting to violence.
In 2024 the Uganda Police Force reported a significant increase in mob justice cases and actively addressed the troubling rise of mob justice incidents across the country, urging the public to respect the legal process and allow police investigations to proceed without interference.
These developments reflect ongoing efforts by Ugandan law enforcement to combat mob justice and promote adherence to lawful procedures in addressing crime.
