President Yoweri K. Museveni has directed State House Comptroller (SHC) Jane Barekye to send financial support to the victims of the Kamwenge terror attack.
The President made the revelation in a statement dated December 20, 2023.
“I have directed the State House Comptroller to send financial support to each of the families that lost their loved ones in Kamwenge,” Museveni said.
Additionally, Museveni directed the SHC to give financial support to the survivor of the attack, a girl who escaped from the killers and reported the incident.
“The girl who escaped must be saluted. She is the one who alerted the area. This financial aid should be extended to her as well,” Museveni added.
He requested the Kamwenge Woman MP, Sylvia Bahairera, to coordinate the assistance with the SHC office and bring the girl to him.
“I need to thank her for her bravery,” Museveni added.
On December 19, 2023, 10 people were killed following an attack by unknown assailants in Kyitehurizi trading centre, Kamwenge District, where four bodies of the victims were burned in the structure that housed a shop, a bar, and a hotel.
