President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has rallied Ugandans to ensure full participation in the forthcoming 6th national Population and Housing Census slated for May 10, 2024.

In an exclusive message shared by the national coordinating committee manning the preparation for the national census, President Museveni said the information from the 2024 census will support the government, the private sector, cultural and religious institutions, civil society, and development partners in service deliveries.

The president said it will also provide the basis for planning the provision of social services such as education, health, and transport, both at local and national levels.

“Fellow countrymen, as we walk towards realizing the 2040 vision of Uganda, it is important that we plan based on accurate information about our people and resources. I therefore would like to announce the 6th National Population and Housing Census that will start on May 10, 2024,” President Museveni said in his pre-recorded audiovisual message.

He further noted that the successful execution of the census will influence the well-being of all Ugandans and progress the country towards the desire for economic transformation.

“When enumerators come to conduct the census, please avail yourselves and provide them with honest answers to their questions. This is to enable them to process the most accurate information about you, your households, institutions, and community,” President Museveni said.

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) assured Ugandans that they are set to carry out the 6th national population census from May 9–10, 2024, and that more than 120,000 enumerators are currently being trained to execute the exercise.
