More suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels have surrendered to the military authorities from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) after an intensive fire operation against the rebels in Ndalia North of Erengeti town.

According to Major Bilal Yusuf Katamba, the Spokesperson of Operation Shujaa, a joint operation was carried out on July 24, 2023, and on the morning of July 25, 2023, a total of seventeen among which were women, men  and children of the ADF rebels surrendered to the forces at Ndimo located on Erengeti-Komanda road.

He said that, the joint forces have continued to search the general areas of Nadlia to ensure that those who could be stuck in the Jungle are rescued.

“Our forces continue to comb the areas to ensure that those trapped in the jungles are rescued and will continue doing this combing operation until these rebels surrender to the forces,” Maj Katamba stated.

Maj Katamba noted that more ADF fighters are expected to surrender to the different detachment of UPDF or FARDC as offensive operation intensifies.

He therefore, encouraged those ADF fighters and abductees held by the terrorists against their will to report to UPDF or FARDC immediately.

Uganda People’s Defence Forces continues to re-assure the rebels who may choose to report to their detachments of their safety and rehabilitation.
