Police in Mbale city have apprehended the Mbale City Engineer, Johnson Gimuyi, on allegations of authorizing developments on drainage lines, areas visibly known for all life dangers given the topography of Mbale in its history.

This follows the ongoing fight and crackdown on corruption aimed at creating a corruption-free country in Uganda, a move geared by President Museveni to crush all corrupt officials engaged in illegal activities that deter economic progress in Uganda.

A concerned citizen who preferred anominity, while talking to the Air Wings on August 22, 2024, claimed that the engineer and other leaders took laws in their hands, assuming too much authority and practicing illegalities like abuse of office, something that accompanied the disappearance of taxes in the market.

’’At one time again around mid-May of this year, Johnson Gimuyi was found under a microscope of road rehabilitation funds, something that sparked stakeholder demand for accountability on funds; he handled it, which is causing a keen eye on his profile,’’ he said.

However, at the time of reporting, our reporter hadn’t received a comment from the police, as they were out of reach.

Based on the incidents that have been happening in the country, it’s the responsibility of every concerned citizen to jointly keep an eye on corrupt officials who have come out to sabotage Uganda’s economic progress by reporting all corruption cases to the relevant authorities in order to stump out corruption in Uganda.
