National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has accused the Uganda Police Force of deliberately sabotaging his campaign activities across Teso sub-region, following a series of confrontations in Kumi, Katakwi, Kapelebyong, and Soroti districts.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, 17th December, 2025, Kyagulanyi revealed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba and other officers have consistently violated regulations and obstructed his rallies.

“You have seen how the police stopped me from campaigning in Katakwi Town and Amuria, even preventing me from resting overnight in Amuria. On reaching Soroti, they denied me access to my hotel; it is now 11:00 pm, and I am still stranded,” Kyagulanyi said.

He said that police actions are aimed at delaying his movement, preventing him from reaching campaign venues on time, and ultimately denying him the opportunity to engage with voters.

“You have seen on many occasions how police block my path to campaign venues. This deliberate delay is intended to keep me from speaking to voters. They are afraid of my message of change and the fact that I will open people’s eyes,” the NUP party President added.
