Songbird Iryn Namubiru, real name Irene Gladys Namubiru, is set for a comeback concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday, July 26, 2024, in a timeless experience.
The Birowoozo singer will take her fans on a trip to remember her beautiful past in music, and she can’t wait to reconnect with them.
“Finally, I will be LIVE in CONCERT! I will step on stage at exactly 20:00 hrs. I cannot wait to be with you,” Namubiru posted on X.
The 42-year-old female vocalist promised to perform all her breathtaking hits that soothe her fans.
According to one of her fans, identified as Faith Katusiime, a businesswoman in Kansanga, a Kampala suburb, they are looking forward to the day of the concert because of her talent and nice songs.
“She is a legend; she has a good voice and beautiful classic, afrobeat, RnB, and jazz songs. For some of us who know her music, we can’t wait for her to step on that beautiful stage,” Katusiime said.
Fans will part with UGX 150.000 for VIP (early bird), UGX 200.000 for VIP (at the gate), and UGX 3M for a table of 8 people.
Namubiru is known for her songs like Nabulo, Birowoozo, Tebiba Bingi, Byokola, Nkuweki, Nsoyiwa, Kawoowo, Begombeko, Omukwano Gwaffe, Yoono, Glorify You, Nsiimye, Byansi, Yenze, Ndereya, and many more.
Namubiru has had a passion for singing since her childhood and has worked hard to make it a bigger part of her life. In 1995, she joined rapper DJs Ragga Dee and Molar-Messe, assisting in the release of a series of singles like Bamusakata, Mukwano, and Mukyala Tokaba. Her first individual single, Learn to Say Goodbye, also appeared on the group’s album. She had her first stage appearance in September 1995.
In 1999, she joined singer Juliana Kanyomozi, her former schoolmate at Namasagali College, to form the RnB all-girl group called I-Jay. The group disbanded after the release of their seven tracks when she left for France. In 2011, Namubiru won four categories of the 2011 Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards.
