The former Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Anderson Burora, has said that he doesn’t regret losing his seat as RCC Lubaga Division because it is the right decision he has made for the good of his country, Uganda.
Burora said that he had all the possible ways and opportunities to retain his office, but he decided to lose it and the job because it was the right thing he could do, and he would not ask for forgiveness over such a decision.
“If I was supposed to ask for forgiveness, I would listen to Hajji Kakande’s advice and act accordingly, but I can’t plead to be forgiven today, and if I do that, I would be speaking about something I don’t understand,” Burora said.
Burora made the revelation during the press conference held at his offices in Rubaga division on Monday, March 18, 2024. During the press conference, Burora handed over the instruments of power to Doreen Kaita, who will serve as a caretaker.
He, however, commended President Museveni for giving him a chance to work with the government for five years and five months, stating that he would continue to push for the interests of the people.
According to Burora, if Ugandans are not okay, even President Museveni will not be okay, because what hurts Ugandans also hurts President Museveni.
Kaita commended Burora for the sacrificial work he has done for Rubaga division during his reign, stating that she will not disappoint him as she is ready to work with President Museveni as he has been doing.
“That’s how public offices are; people go and others come in. I thank Burora for the tremendous work he has done for the people of Rubaga. I will work with the President to ensure that the people’s questions are answered,” Kaita said.
According to Kaita, people should embrace government wealth creation programmes like the Parish Development Model (PDM) to earn income for their survival.
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, Burora was suspended by the Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, to pave the way for investigations into his role in an alleged land wrangle.
He, however, promised to hold a press conference on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in a yet-to-be-identified place to respond to the issues concerning corruption in parliament.
