President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reiterated the government’s commitment to funding the Parish Development Model (PDM), describing it as a key tool for lifting Ugandans out of poverty and ensuring inclusive national prosperity.

Addressing a public rally on wealth creation at Kituntu Sub-county headquarters in Mpigi District on 18th June 2025, Museveni said the PDM is central to the National Resistance Movement’s strategy for fostering household-level economic transformation.

“The NRM’s first principle is peace, which is a foundation for development. With PDM, we are now targeting household prosperity. Every family must engage in productive activity to create wealth,” Museveni told the crowd.

The rally marked Museveni’s three-day wealth creation and PDM assessment tour of the Greater Mpigi sub-region covering Mpigi, Gomba, and Butambala districts.

To inspire confidence in the PDM initiative, President Museveni played videos of successful beneficiaries from various regions who have used PDM funds to boost their incomes through goat rearing, poultry farming, coffee growing, and small-scale agribusiness.

Despite the program’s achievements, the President expressed concern that many Ugandans remain outside the money economy, calling for a renewed push toward hard work, mindset change, and efficient use of government support.

“Uganda is progressing. But the future belongs to those who are disciplined and organized,” he emphasized.

Museveni instructed police to stop issuing bonds to individuals arrested for mismanaging PDM funds, stating that the misuse of public funds undermines national development.

“Law enforcement must ensure that bonds are not misused. Criminals involved in sabotaging government programs must face full accountability,” he said.

The President also recieved over 1000 opposition converts to the ruling NRM party and urged them to embrace wealth creation initiatives like the Parish Development Model for effective poverty eradication. He thanked the converts for making wise decision by joining the NRM.
