Gov’t Chief Whip Obua Launches Construction of 17 Roads in Alebtong

The government has sent to Alebtong District the sum of two hundred fifty million shillings to kick-start the construction of rural roads in the area.

The fund is part of the one billion shillings earmarked by the government this financial year to fund the construction of 17 rural roads within Alebtong district this financial year.

Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, also the Ajuri County MP in Alebtong district, led a team of area leaders on Friday, October 6th, including district woman MP Dorcas Acen (NRM) and LCV Chairperson David Kennedy Odongo (UPC), among others, during the launch.

GCW Obua applauded the government and specifically President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for prioritising rural road construction in the country.

According to GCW Obua, the government is committed to delivering all the pending pledges made over the years.

He urged residents to embrace government programmes and use them to eradicate poverty and guarantee prosperity.
According to GCW Obua, as leaders of Alebtong district, they will continue to lobby for more funding from the government to empower local people.

Dorcas Acen, the Alebtong District MP who is also the area roads committeecommittee chairperson, said roads due for construction will include the 16-kilometre road stretching from Okuro trading centre via Alololo parish up to Adwir Sub County and the 10-kilometre road from Aminomugu via Owalo to Olwinyipii in Awei Sub County, all in Ajuri County.

The other roads include the 6km road that connects Bless-Hope School to Oloo and the 15km road stretching from Abongodyang via Oteno to Tekulu in Abia Sub County in Moroto County, among others.

David Kennedy Odongo (UPC), the Alebtong LCV chairperson, called for unity and reconciliation among leaders.

Once completed, the construction will improve the current appalling road network within the district.
