Gen. Kavuma Tasks RDCs, Security Team to Closely Monitor Wealth Creation Programs

The Deputy Commander of Operation Wealth Creation, Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma, has tasked the Resident District Commissioners and security team, including District Internal Security Officers, DISO, to ensure close monitoring of all wealth creation initiatives.

Kavuma was on Thursday, September 19, 2024, addressing the RDCs, DISOs, and RISOs from the central region during a retreat held at the Maya Nature Resort Hotel, Wakiso District.

He says Parish Development Model, EMYOOGA, UWEP and others should be strictly monitored to ensure that it is successfully implemented.

Gen. Kavuma discussed the importance of wealth creation, linking it directly to security and stability.

He explained that when people are displaced or living in insecure environments, they cannot create wealth.

Gen. Kavuma stressed the significance of education and health as key enablers of wealth creation.

“Education equips people with skills to identify opportunities, while good health ensures that people can actively contribute to wealth creation,” Gen. Kavuma said.

He told the officials to ensure strict supervision in order to successfully implement all the government programs.

Col. Emmy Katabazi, the Deputy Director General of Internal Security Organization, ISO, while lecturing the participants, emphasized the role of the district security team, specifically RDCs and DISOs, to uphold clear ideological stands.

He highlighted the untapped potential of Uganda’s natural resources, such as the 52 industrial and commercial minerals in Karamoja Region.

Col. Katabazi says the RDCs, and DISOs  tmust understand the concept of productive forces, which encompass the means of production and the object of labor, in order to achieve social transformation for Ugandans.

The objective of the retreat was to enhance the capacity of security and leadership officers in understanding their roles in maintaining government stability and promoting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ideology.
