Ekkula Awards 2024 to Recognize Change Makers in Tourism Sustainability

The awards will celebrate various categories, including Tourism Media Personality and Cultural Tourism Award focusing on Advancing Sustainable Tourism, Peace and Green Investments for Improved Livelihoods.

The Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities have organized Ekkula Awards Uganda 7th edition an event aimed at recognizing the change makers in the sustainability of the tourism industry.

The event which is slated for November 15, 2024, at Sheraton Hotel Kampala will attract several stakeholders in tourism including the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa who is expected to be the Guest of Honor.

According to the State Minister of Tourism, Martin Bahinduka Mugarra, these awards not only recognize the change makers in tourism, but also help shine a light and give various individuals and entities a platform to showcase their work and market their services.

“Friday November 15th is the Awards Night for the 7th edition of the Ekkula Awards Uganda and it will be an honor to have the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who is a tourism advocate and has walked the tourism promotion talk, as chief guest,” Mugarra said.

Previously the winners of the 6th Edition of Ekkula Sustainable Tourism Awards had an opportunity to visit the Conservation Through Commercialization (CTC) center in Butambala where they had an up-close experience with various wild animals as well as training on sustainable tourism and environmental conservation practices.

The awards will celebrate various categories, including Tourism Media Personality and Cultural Tourism Award focusing on Advancing Sustainable Tourism, Peace and Green Investments for Improved Livelihoods.

These awards will be in conjunction with the 12th graduation ceremony for Uganda wildlife research and training institute in Kasese District according to the Ministry of Tourism.
