Nyakasura School drew with Ntare School 1-1 in a friendly game of the select super 11 at old Kampala school play grounds on Sunday evening, July 2, 2023.

Nyakasura, the hosts had invited Ntare School to a friendly game as Nyakasura continues with their league fixtures that started this season and have already seen many teams register and prepare a head of their inaugural season.

The old boys’ league game that kicked off at 5:00 pm began with an early goal for Nyakasura School as they won a penalty and Goodman made no mistake but to send the Ntare keeper to put Nyakasura School ahead, just 10 minutes into half time.

The visitors didn’t take long before they equalized just a few minutes before end of first half, as Kagezi looped the Nyakasura keeper who misjudged the direction of the ball due to the overhead sun, and ended up with the ball in his own net.

Second half had clear open chances for both teams but neither of the sides could score, leaving the game to end in a draw.  And from the chances created from open play, the hosts were lucky to manage a draw after 90 minutes.

In an interview with Brighton Abaho, the Secretary General for Ntare Lions league said that as Ntare league, they were happy for the invitation from Nyakasura School and promised to be available anytime they are invited to play such friendly games.

“It’s a good gesture and as we await for our league to resume In August we need these warm up games,” Abaho said.

“We might have lacked rhythm but it’s all because many players are unfit due to the season break. But generally, the game was fair and a good friendly one,” Abaho added.

Abaho also confirmed that the Ntare Lions league will resume in August 20, 2023, and they will play from Kampala Quality in Bahai Kisaasi, a Kampala suburb.

According to Ronald Karuhanga, the Nyakasura league Chairperson, the league climaxes in October 8, 2023, in Fort Portal City preferably at Nyakasura School.

“I call upon my fellow alumni to show up and support our Nyakasura school league as it’s about networking, and for those who are playing physically, it’s very healthy as you remain physically fit. This is also a window to come together and let’s use this as a channel to give back to our school and community at large for they made us who we are today,” Karuhanga said.
