Popular opposition politician Bobi Wine’s brothers, singers Dax Vibez and Mikie Wine, were arrested by police in Jinja city on the morning of July 7, 2025.
The two were reportedly in the city to perform at the ‘Ekitudha’ event when they were detained under unclear circumstances.
Although the specific reasons for their arrest have not yet been confirmed, video footage circulating on social media shows the brothers being apprehended by security forces.
In a statement on his official Facebook account, Mikie Wine accused local National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth leaders of assaulting him and his team shortly before their arrest.
“Mikie Wine and his team were attacked and beaten up by a gang led by NRM youth leader in Jinja, commonly known as Yasin Ibra. When they went to the police to report the assault, they were instead arrested,” Mikie Wine wrote.
According to sources, Mikie Wine’s condition worsened after the altercation, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of now, it is unclear what charges the brothers face.
The police have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the arrest.
