Top three at 2026 Burj2Burj Half Marathon

Uganda’s long-distance icon Joshua Cheptegei once again proved his world-class pedigree with a stunning victory at the Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai on Sunday, February 8,2026.

The Olympic and World Champion clocked an impressive 59 minutes and 26 seconds to claim the top spot in a hotly contested race that saw elite runners from across the continent battle for glory.

Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir finished a close second in 59:28, just two seconds behind Cheptegei, while Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu completed the podium in 59:30. The top five also featured Kenya’s Enos Kipruto (1:00:03) and Ethiopia’s Lulu Negera (1:00:04), underlining the depth of East African dominance in distance running.

Cheptegei’s win adds yet another title to his glittering resume and demonstrates his consistent form as he continues his transition from track supremacy to road racing excellence. His performance in Dubai cements his reputation as one of the sport’s great all-rounders equally formidable on the track, in cross country, and on the roads.

He described the win as a key step in his preparations for upcoming major races, including the London Marathon scheduled for April 26th, 2026.

“This win means a lot to me. I am trusting the process and keeping the dream alive as I look forward to my next marathon,” Cheptegei said after the race.

The victory comes as an encouraging sign ahead of Cheptegei’s preparations for the upcoming international road race season and possible marathon debut later in the year.
