Tafadzwa Chinhuru, a 27-year-old man from Zaka, Masvingo Province in Zimbabwe has been sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment after he sodomized a six-year-old in her anal region.
Christopher Maturure, the Gweru Regional Magistrate, Chinhuru on January 9, 2024, for defiling and sodomizing a minor, offenses he denied.
Despite Chinhuru’s denial, a medical report presented in court showed that the minor had blood stains on her pants, bruises on her knees, and bruises under the anal area following the brutal sexual attack.
The prosecution stated that Chinhuru committed this heinous act on November 3, 2023, at around 7:00 a.m. when he had gone to seek the services of a sex worker at the minor’s homestead but was urged to wait outside since the sex worker was showering.
As he was waiting for the sex worker, he saw the minor playing with her two other friends, grabbed and dragged her to the nearby bush, where he sexually sodomized her, and later dumped her at the local shops.
When the sex worker came out of the shower, she noticed the minor was not playing with her friends, then proceeded to look for her and found her at the shops.
Upon interrogation, the six-year-old revealed that she had been sodomized by Chinhuru in a bush. The sex worker then escorted the victim back home, alerted the community members about Chinhuru’s heinous act, hunted him down, and handed him over to the police.
While reading the verdict, Maturure said the sodomy act on the minor did not only expose her to sexually transmitted diseases, but Chinhuru’s “evil actions had a long-term mental effect on the girl too.
