Uganda is set to host the first round of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Challenge League B tournament scheduled to take place from November 4-16, 2024. This competition is a key event on the pathway to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
The Uganda Cricket Association on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, launched the ICC Challenge League B at Copper Chimney in Lugogo.
Fred Lutaaya, the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed pride in the nation for hosting the event, saying that Uganda’s successful history of hosting international cricket events has earned it the trust of the International Cricket Council (ICC) again.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the 1st round of the Challenge League as Uganda. This opportunity reflects the ICC’s confidence in the Uganda Cricket Association as a capable host nation. Having previously hosted the same event in 2022 and the finals of the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers last year, we see this tournament as an incredible opportunity for our players to showcase their skills. We invite everyone to join us for what promises to be an unforgettable experience,” Lutaaya said.
